Terms & Conditions

PAYMENT AND SCHEDULING

  • Except for notarial fees, all fees must be paid to set an appointment.
  • Notarial fees must be paid at the start of the signing appointment, upon the notary's review of the documents.
  • Discounts must be applied at the time of booking an appointment.


IDENTIFICATION

The person (s) signing document(s) must present a valid form of identification to Notary, and Notary must be able to determine with reasonable certainty that the person(s) matches the presented identification. If this condition cannot be met, the Notary will not notarize the document(s).


Acceptable identifications include:

  • A New York identification card or driver's license issued by the public agency authorized to issue driver's licenses.
  • A passport issued by the Department of State of the United States.
  • A passport issued by a foreign government if the document is stamped by the United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
  • A driver's license or an identification card issued by a public agency authorized to issue driver's licenses in a state other than New York, a territory of the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
  • An identification card issued by any branch of the armed forces of the United States.
  • A veteran health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • An inmate identification card issued on or after January 1, 1991, by the New York Department of Corrections for an inmate who is in the custody of the department.
  • An inmate identification card issued by the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, for an inmate who is in the custody of the department.
  • A sworn, written statement from a sworn law enforcement officer that the forms of identification for an inmate in an institution of confinement were confiscated upon confinement and that the person named in the document is the person whose signature is to be notarized; or 
  • An identification card issued by the United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.


NOTE: If a signer does not have any of the aforementioned forms of identification, 2 witnesses, with acceptable identification, and who personally know the signer and who have no interest in the documents to be signed may vouch for the signer’s identity by signing and swearing under oath that the signer is the person he or she claims to be.


MENTALLY INCAPACITATED PERSONS

The law prohibits a notary from notarizing the signature of a person known to the Notary as having been decided mentally incapacitated by a court of competent jurisdiction if that notarization pertains to a right that has been removed. These rights refer to such things as the right to vote, to marry, to execute conveyances of real property, etc. Bristol Signing Service will not book services for the aforementioned individual(s), and the Notary will not notarize any document if Notary is unable to determine with reasonable certainty that the person(s) signing the document(s) to be notarized is/are willing and competent to execute the document.


VISUALLY IMPAIRED SIGNERS

In the case of a blind signer, must bring someone to assist them in reading any document to the signer before the notarization. Please keep this in mind when booking Notary services and allow for additional time.


NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING SIGNERS

In the case of a signer who does not understand English, there must be an interpreter to translate documents to be signed into a language the signer understands. Securing an interpreter is the responsibility of the signer.


TIME AND ATTENDANCE

  • All appointments default to a 30-minute schedule. We will adjust the appointment duration based on your documents and business needs.
  • Signer(s) must be in the presence of the Notary at the time the signature is needed. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • All parties required to sign, including witnesses, must be on time for the appointment. 
  • Unless communicated and agreed upon in advance, appointments will be canceled if the signer(s) is/are late by 10-minutes. 


RESCHEDULING AND CANCELLATION

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we respectfully request at least 2-hour notice. Any cancellation or reschedule made less than a 2-hour notice will result in a cancellation/reschedule fee. The amount of the fee will be equal to 15% of the base price or $39.00 whichever is more.


REFUNDS AND FEE TRANSFERS

  • No Call No Show appointments are non-refundable or transferable.
  • Any fees paid to Bristol Signing Service for travel are non-refundable once travel to the location has commenced.
  • Any fees paid to Bristol Signing Service are non-refundable or transferable if you choose not to sign your documents.
  • Any fees paid to Bristol Signing Service are non-refundable or transferable if the signer(s) is/are not properly prepared to complete the signing. 
  • Add-on services such as printing is non-refundable or transferable once the documents have been printed.
  • Add-on services for appointments scheduled between 12:00 AM and 8:59 AM, or 8:00 PM to 11:59 AM are non-refundable or transferable once travel to the location has commenced.
  • Add-on services for Nursing Home and Hospital visits are non-refundable or transferable once we arrive at the facility up to the parking area at or near the facility.
  • Add-on Moderator Service (MS) is non-refundable or transferable whether documents are signed and notarized on or not.


MODERATOR SERVICE (MS)

This service is to allow one 3rd party person (non-signer) to engage with the Notary Public during or for a short time after the appointment. The moderator will not attempt to:


  • Discourage or influence the Notary Public from following Notarial Law.
  • Discourage the Notary Public from communicating directly with the signers.
  • Interject or respond for the signers during questioning.


The moderator understand all agreements between the Notary Public and the moderator must be in writing. NO ORAL AGREEMENTS will be honored. The moderator understands any attempt to hinder or prevent a lawful notarization is grounds for immediate cancellation. No refunds will be issued.


UNAUTHORIZED PRACTICE OF LAW

  • You understand we will NOT provide legal advice or individual opinions on any documents.
  • All questions pertaining to the truthfulness, legality, or validity of your documents must be addressed with an attorney.
  • You understand under no circumstances do we attest to the truthfulness, legality, or validity of your documents.
  • You understand we will NOT prepare any kind of legal papers, such as wills, deeds, bills of sale, mortgages, chattel mortgages, contracts, leases, offers, options, incorporation papers, releases, mechanics liens, power of attorney, complaints and all legal pleadings, papers in summary proceedings to evict a tenant, or in bankruptcy, affidavits, or any papers which our courts have said are legal documents or papers.


BLANK OR INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTS

  • Except for the notarial section of your documents all blank spaces must be filled in before we can notarize your documents.
  • You understand we will NOT notarize blank or incomplete documents
